At-Home Care for those with Alzheimer’s Disease or Dementia

“There’s No Place Like Home”

Alzheimer's symptoms can be lessened when patients remain at home.

The best place for a person with Alzheimer's Disease or dementia is in familiar surroundings.

Studies have shown that the best place for a person with memory loss is in familiar surroundings. Our approach of encouragement and assistance can help your family member cope with the challenges of dementia. Since 1994, families like yours have trusted Home Instead Senior Care® to provide one-on-one care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Maximizing Independence & Stimulating Performance

The goal of Home Instead Senior Care’s Alzheimer’s care program is simple:

To give the elderly afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia an opportunity to age with dignity for as long as possible.  Our exclusive Alzheimer’s CAREGiver training curriculum was developed by The George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc. This respected organization is at the forefront of Alzheimer’s and dementia patient care training.

Our CAREGivers learn about the disease, its process and progression, and the impact on the client and their family members. Our approach of encouragement and assistance helps family members cope with the severe challenges of the disease.

CAREGivers also learn specific techniques to manage the changing behaviors, maximize independence and stimulate performance in Activities of Daily Living. This specialized service enables those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or related memory disorders to remain home longer, enjoying the benefits of individualized care and family association.

They provide assistance with enhancing and restoring the simple pleasures of life, such as a walk in the park, a ride in the car to get ice cream or spending time in the garden. These elder care activities are proven to maximize abilities and independence and remain one of the best treatments for this disease.

We Can Help You Face the Challenges

In addition to a multi-phased safety and caregiving education program, Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiversSM receive specialized training designed to help them work with clients who have Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. This program was created in 2001 in collaboration with The George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers of San Diego, California.

In 2003, the American Society on Aging recognized Home Instead, Inc. for the development of this Alzheimer’s CAREGiver Training Program by honoring the company with the “Small Business of the Year Award.”
