September 6 Webinar Looks at Navigating Senior Care Options

September 4, 2017

alzheimer's - 17 coping tips that bring comfort, security and peace of mind.

With advances in care, and with caregiving options available in many different settings, home caregivers know that there are numerous options for aging parents and other seniors.  No longer is a nursing home the only option for the elderly.  More and more seniors are living in their own homes, sometimes independently, sometimes with the help of a family member or a hired helper. Others are living in the homes of caregivers, opting for assisted living, trying out a retirement home, etc.

With so many options, it can become challenging for seniors — and for home caregivers — to know just what is the right choice for their own unique situation. Fortunately, an upcoming webinar on September 6 looks at many of the options available so that home caregivers and others can make an informed decision.

The Webinar

“Navigating Senior Care Options” is the latest entry in the ongoing series of Family Caregiver Support webinars. It is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time (12:00 noon Central, 1:00 p.m. Eastern) on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. The webinar series is sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care.

Those participating in this webinar will leave the session with knowledge of:

  • the continuum of care available to older adults as they age
  • understanding what type of care is best for an older adult, and when it may be time to transition to a different type of care;
  • questions and considerations that the older adult and his or her family should take into account when choosing different elder care options
  • the costs of care and options for financing

The Speaker

Lakelyn Hogan is a gerontologist and caregiver advocate for Home Instead Senior Care and a doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska Omaha, studying social gerontology. She has a master of arts in social gerontology and master’s in business administration from UNO. Lakelyn has professional experience in the private and public sectors of senior care services.
